About Scott Weiss

Writer and Editor

For over twenty years I’ve been helping companies and their employees by writing, reviewing, editing, and creating procedures, technical documentation, user instructions, training materials, and job aids.

Over that time, I’ve worked to improve as a writer, communicator, and creator through education, personal study, and professional experience.

Scott's Background

Experienced and Educated

Blue Collar Beginnings: As a young man, I took a job at a steel foundry. It was hot, dirty, hard work—grinding steel castings and doing other tasks. I worked at the foundry for five years.

Military Discipline: I’m a veteran of the U.S. Army—having been honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant (E-5).

Banking and Lending Background: I have several years of experience working for banks and non-bank lenders. I’ve been a teller, sold new accounts, done residential lending administrative work and residential construction loan disbursement. On the commercial and SBA lending side, I’ve processed and closed loans, trained loan processors, worked as a loan operations specialist, been a business analyst, and disbursed commercial and SBA construction loans. I’ve also written procedures, created job aids, and served as administrator for software used to document and close loans.

Healthcare IT Experience: As a technical writer and documentation specialist in the healthcare IT space, I’ve worked with system development project teams to document system development lifecycle (SDLC) updates, created and updated system and user manuals, edited security and disaster recovery documentation, created and edited procedures, and written user guide procedures and help text content.

University Educated: I have bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English.
